'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Kurt Is Kaput
Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya are eliminated
Another night, another elimination. It wasn’t a shock to see Kurt go, but it was hard.
Kurt said that life is about "relationships and impacting people," and that "DWTS" gave him the chance to do just that. He graciously thanked Anna for her coaching, and then the pair of them waltzed it out. Kurt Warner, a class act all around.

Here’s how our semifinalists performed this week:
Kyle Massey
During his crowd-pleasing, emotional waltz Kyle’s frame was very good, and Len commented on the improvement in his posture. Kyle and Lacey’s "instant" jive was -- by far -- the pair’s best routine. It was loose, limber and tons of fun, so no wonder the judges asked to see it for the encore. I can’t wait to see what these two will do next week.
Jennifer Grey
Even with a torn tendon in her left knee Jennifer continues to dominate this competition. She and Derek turned in one of the best quicksteps I’ve ever seen on this show -- it had the perfect balance of classic technique and modern jauntiness. Her rumba was the first perfect routine of the season. Jennifer’s leg extension was jaw-dropping, her rhythm was beyond perfect and she really sold the song. Let’s hope she gets a chance to recuperate before the semifinals begin.
Bristol Palin
Mark and Bristol pulled off two stunning lifts during their Argentine tango, and the judges had good things to say overall even though her technique wasn’t quite perfect. Her spirited samba featured some impressive shoulder shimmies but she did stumble a bit coming out of a spin and lost the thread of the steps at one point during the middle of the routine. Bristol’s appearance in the Semifinals is sure to raise eyebrows, but she may just surprise us.
Brandy
Her round one waltz was stunning, truly a showcase for Brandy’s incredible strength, musicality and timing. Her and Maks’s "instant" cha-cha had a lot to live up to. Brandy’s musicality was right on, and she more than performed her half of the routine, but the judges weren’t pleased with Maks’s choreography. (It actually got a little ugly. And Maks didn’t make it much better by making the world’s fakest apology backstage!) Let’s hope all grudges will be off by the beginning of next week.
Who won the week? Jennifer and Brandy
Who needs to step it up? Bristol
Hey nicegal... Ya you! And anyone else. This has nothing to do with complaining Democrats, or liberals or Obama. I'm a Republican, not a tea bagger. BUT, I know talent when I see it. When Bristol dresses and does those dance moves like Jennifer, Kyle or Brandy. Than we can say she's in the same playing field.
I read where DWTS Champ Cheryl Burke said, "I think Bristol is really blossoming into a dancer. People really relate to her because she's someone who has never been in the entertainment industry before, and she's coming into something completely new and is really out of her comfort zone. She's showing people that any woman can come here--any girl--any human being who's never done anything like this before and actually become a dancer. I think that's why she's so relatable". Wow! Gee, I thought this is "Dancing with the STARS". Well, ALL you dancers out there lets bring it on. You can be the next DWTS winner...
Trust me, the "Tea Partiers" have much more important things to do than be calling in votes on a T.V. show. Your conspiracy theories are nonsense and ridiculous.
Bristol didn't ask to be on the show....DWS asked her! She is absolutely not a "Hollywood" star, or even in the entertainment industry. I think some of that is the whole point of the show, to get "known" people, TEACH them to dance and compete. People with dancing backgrounds are, of course, head and shoulders over others who do not. I'd rather watch the inexperienced improve, than the "gifted" just perform. I don't think Bristol joined in with the intention or even a hope of a chance that she might win. She did it to challenge herself and it helps her support her child. And I HOPE she did it just **** you off! If so, it's working.
Put the claws away libs. I've seen plenty of others on past shows that one wouldn't exactly call "stars". Tom Delay, for instance. A "star"? Some I had never even heard of!!!
I doubt Bristol will win. I hope Brandy or the little guy win. Jennifer whines and "suffers" weekly then bops around like ....it's a miracle, I'm cured!! "I was almost paralyzed, my knee is almost destroyed". Wo what the hell is doing dancing? Drama queen.
Wow, such haters listed here!
Bristol and Kurt were probably equal dancers, Bristol evidently had a bigger fan base. Her mother is more of a detriment than help to her; she uses every moment for a photo op for herself. It's all about SARAH, after all. I give Bristol credit for being on the show, she has worked hard despite all the haters out there.
Brandy is an excellent dancer but Maks is an egotistical, arrogant, poor sport who can't take criticism. If he can't take the heat..............
Jennifer is doing great. As far as the criticism for her crying, obviously these people have never had a knee issue! It's excrutiatingly painful just to walk, let alone dance like she does. She's also old enough to be Derek's mother, yet she matches him step for step. Brandy has a big advantage over her in that she is much younger. It takes much more of an effort when you are 50 years old! As far as the "Dirty Dancing" comments, I once thought that she was a dancer turned actress for that movie. Turns out she was an actress who had to learn a few dances for the film. What she is doing now is much more difficult and she is doing it at a much older age! Give her a break!
Kyle is adorable, and has musicality and natural rhythm. He deserves to be in the finale with Brandy and Jennifer.
Thank you Trishan for reading my previous comment.
I just can't get over you folks who are trying to politicize DWTS. It has nothing to do with Mrs. Palin - -people are voting for Bristol because she is Bristol. Can't you see it is also because folks are tired of a ringer coming in and scooping the prize. That is also why Kyle has lots of votes. I was sorry to see Kurt go because he also was improving.
I have an idea about changing up the judges. After watching Undercover Boss, it occurred to me that it would be good if Carrie Ann for sure and maybe Bruno changed places with 1 or 2 of the pro dancers. I think the pros do an amazing job when they take someone with little or no experience teach them to dance.
I don't believe Carrie Ann could do that and would like to be proven wrong.
As an added note -
I sure get a chuckle out of those of you who say you will never watch again. You know you will - but I can just picture the kind of children you must have been - -
The whiners on playground who would grab their toy and stomp off home if they didn't get their way!!!!!!!
The people voting for Bristol Palin are obviously not watching the same performances the rest of us are. She should NOT be in the semi-finals because her level of dancing is NOT semi-final worthy. Florence Henderson was a better dancer than Bristol. If she advances to the finals – they should just rename the show “Dancing With The Mediocore” and I can stop watching.
I'm a little confused here. In what way , shape or form is Bristol Palin a 'star'? Her MOTHER COULD be labeled a celebrity.....but Bristol?...Her greatest claim to fame is she got herself knocked up at 16. She is being paid a ridiculous amount of money to drop her child for how long? a month?...2 months with family then whine about missing her. Whose idea was it to ask this chick to Dancing with the STARS?
Quite honestly, you should give the 100K to a POOR mother who got herself knocked up as a teenager who NEEDS a hand UP rather than a girl whose sponging off her family, with no job , who roams around the country collecting money from giving speeches on single parenthood and safe sex...AFTER she got herself knocked up. Like her situation where she holds no job, has family and money in the family to fall back upon, and has time to leave her child for months at a time is inspirational or worthy of speeches and being called a STAR .
I have no political affiliations but would recommend DWTS reconsider their decisions on which CELEBRITY (facetitious) to ask to dance.
WHO is voting for this unknown chick?
First of all, to those who are being negative and think this is allbecause of Bristol's mother and who she is, get a life! Next thing we'll here from you folks is that Obama has the White house phones going every Monday night.......what a joke!!
Now as for the show, I like briostol I have seen the improvement each week and finally a personality is emerginbg.....Do I think she belongs in the semis? NO, I think it was Kurt Warner's spot, he has been absolutely tremendous, was a huge favorite with the fans, but the judges basically select their favorite by the 2nd, 3rd week and Brandy, with her arrogant, pouty, cry eyes attitude has been chosen to win!!......Personally I like Jennifer, especially some of the leg lifts and moves she is doing with that torn tendon and Derek.....Say what you want about Derek, but he is the best and toughest choreographer on that show beside Louie Van Amstel......Rick Fox also got shortchanged and should have stayed another week at least.....
Now that it is down to four, my dark horse to upset the judges is Kyle Massey......This kid can move, has personality plus and just lights up a room and has shown that he can do just about any style dance and Lacey is the perfect partner!!!!
