Producers behind the hit TV talent show are currently searching for a panelist to join newcomer Mariah Carey for the next season following the departures of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Minaj is rumored to be in contention for the coveted job, and the show's former winner Sparks is convinced the rapper would make a great judge.

She tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "I think Nicki would be great. It would be so fun to see what she does because she's so unpredictable. I met her the other day, and she is so sweet." Sparks is also a fan of another potential panelist --country singer Keith Urban. She adds, "I think it would be cool to bring somebody with a country flair who has that experience."

"American Idol" returns in January 2013 on FOX.

I think neither JS nor NM would make good judges. Jordan is talented unlike Manaj but she can't seem to find her niche. The new movie with Whitney better be good or Miss Sparks could find herself at the unemployment line. Either way I'm done with American Idol. Its had its run just like Star Search. After a while these shows just become annoying to watch. You have to listen to the no brain Seacrest antagonize the audience with his hosting or shall I say his not hosting but belittling attitude. Take it off the air its boring now. Get some new ideas!

BOO HOO Simon. Go the hell back to England and take the Osbum family with you, also Pee Morgan.
plus all the rest of your kind with bad teeth and worse attitudes.

Surely there are Americans that can do these jobs and keep a few $$ at home.

Your  X-show is next to dead anyway.

Why would anyone want Nicki Minaj?  It would be the end of Idol for me and I've watched every season.

While a lot of people did not like Simon he really knew talent, no matter how rude sometime he was. Randy, and Paula was the balance. Nicki Minaj may work well for some of the teeny bopper fans, but I do not think she could judge American Idol. I mean she is not really talented in my opinion. I guess in this music industry today you don't have to have talent because sex seems to outweigh talent.

Said it before, and I'll say it again. If Nicki Minaj is a judge I will not be watching the entire season. I can't stand her or her music. I think the longest I've ever watched her was when her boob fell out on GMA or whatever... and even then I had to mute it.

What is her skill set that would allow her to judge the talents of ANYBODY?  No REALLY!

Nikki Minaj is nothing more than a lip-syncing diva. She would be a horrible judge.

Sean Combs would be excellent as a judge, he has tremendous recording and producing experience and many years of stage experience also.

Alicia Keys

Keri Hilson

Justin Timberlake

Monica

Kelly Rowland

would all be great.

Minaj and Urban, not enough personality.

Lopez and Tyler were incredible on the show because they were fun!

Are you kidding me........have this no-talent freak be a judge will be the death-knell for the show.  This is a stupid idea on so many levels............so if you want the show to continue in its decline and end up as a "no-watch" show, except for the crowd that takes anyting that is absurd, vile and untalented as talent.

The lose of Jackson, Lopez and Tyler was probably prophetic to the end of the show, but to put someone like Minaj in there place is a joke at best.
