'The Voice' top 12 results: Two go home

Viewer votes send a pair of singers packing

We're a little over a month away from the Season 3 finale of "The Voice," so every performance counts. The top 12 took the stage Monday with everything from Pink and Boston to that song from "Titanic" and that song from "Back to the Future." Now it's time for two to get eliminated, and the coaches are completely without power.

Tonight we also get a performance from Christina Aguilera featuring Cee Lo Green, and a song from country artist Jason Aldean. Try not to flirt with any of the ladies on the show, Aldean. From what I've read on TMZ, he has a fondness for reality singing-competition contestants.

But the results are what really matter. I'm predicting Adriana Louise and Nicholas David to go home, so let's see if I understand America.

Blake Shelton decided to dress up for the results show in a nice vest. That's much better than the raggedy jacket he had on Monday night.

Carson Daly tells us that there were more votes last night than in the finale last season. That's what happens when you allow voting on about 75 different platforms.

"Make the World Move" by Christina Aguilera featuring Cee Lo Green

Now this is a spectacle. Xtina is dressed like a crazy queen, and she even has trumpeters herald her entrance. This is the vocal equivalent of marking your territory. The stage belongs to Xtina, and everyone else can eat her dust. Cee Lo Green just kind of wanders around, dressed all in white, which gives me a fantastic casting idea: Cee Lo should play Humpty Dumpty on "Once Upon a Time"! That would be awesome.

Adam Levine, the control freak, thinks it "sucks" that America has all of the power. He's half joking, but not really. Cee Lo Green says his favorites are Terry, Dez, Trevin and Nicholas. So no Cody?

The contestants talk about how their lives have changed. A group called Cody's Cougars has formed, and Trevin Hunte has an 80-year-old who wants to adopt him. Also, Dez Duron is single.

Results, Part 1

Bryan Keith is ... safe!
Sylvia Yacoub is ... safe!

I guess singing "My Heart Will Go On" wasn't the total disaster I thought it would be for Sylvia. Hopefully she will avoid songs like that in the future, though I'm not sure there are any other songs like that.

"The Only Way I Know" by Jason Aldean with Dez Duron and Bryan Keith

I guess it kinds of rocks, but this whole country thing is not my vibe. I always enjoy seeing Dez, so that was nice.

Results, Part 2

Nicholas David is ... safe!

Dez Duron is ... safe!

What the heck is wrong with you, America? Why do you keep saving Nicholas, when all I want is for him not to be on this show anymore?

Team Cee Lo: "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees

Imagine if a train wreck and a plane crash happened at the same time, in the same place. Then multiply it by about a million. Seriously, FEMA should be called in after this performance. Cee Lo's falsetto is awful, as is Cody's. Even Trevin can't stay alive. Nicholas wins simply by refusing to try to do a falsetto.

Results, Part 3

Trevin Hunte is ... safe!
Cassadee Pope is ... safe!

No surprises there at all. Now, you'll notice that, of the six singers left, all four of the contestants saved by the coaches last week are awaiting their fates. Clearly that was a big indicator, and I wouldn't be shocked if all four of them are the first four to go.

Team Blake: "Life Is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane

Well, this is a whole lot better than Team Cee Lo's giant turd of a performance. Michaela has a mini-mohawk once again, and Terry still has a face that reminds me of a baby in Mad magazine. More importantly, they all sound good. As a whole, I think Blake has the best team. There are no real weak links.

Results, Part 4

Terry McDermott is ... safe!
Amanda Brown is ... safe!

And just like that, the final four left standing are the four singers the coaches saved last week, one from each team.

Final Results

Cody makes a joke about Xtina, then quickly explains that it was a joke in order to avoid being murdered in his sleep tonight.

Cody Belew is ... safe!
Melanie Martinez is ... safe!

Adriana Louise and Michaela Paige are eliminated!

This isn't all that surprising. Adriana should never have made it to this week. De'borah totally would've been safe. I also think Blake made a bad decision, picking Michaela over Liz Davis when he already had Cassadee, who is basically a more polished Michaela.

Oh well, I'm sure Cody and Melanie will be going home next week anyway.

John Kubicek can't you go and critique X Factor? It might be more up your alley since you wanna diss all over the place. You'd have a hay day.

Almost all of these singers deserve to be there. Cody is freaking great, actually. I love him more and more with every performance. Song choice speaks VOLUMES on this show and Cody's have been A+. As have Nicholas' songs, and his range and funk and flave. Your disdain for him is extremely off-putting. Critics aren't interesting if they're just pure a*******... Even Simon Cowell is likeable. Ceelo's team's "Stayin' Alive" was awesome. No one can falsetto like the BeeGee's, come ON...

And these ARE superstar judges! to all different people out there, they are and/or were superstars, let it be, man! And Blakes team the strongest? Did you not just diss on Terry? AND Casadee? You're confused. Ceelo's team for the win. Hands down.

I appreciate your note on the last four being those saved though, interesting indeed. I also couldn't agree more on Michaela vs Liz. I don't understand his blindness with his "little girl" he loves. He gave the poor girl hope.

Adriana shouldn't have made it- not at all. You can't tell what she's saying! As if she's singing under water. And Melanie needs to step it up- he exaggerated emotions will only get her so far. And I LOVED her. Amanda- horrrrrrible song choice this week, but she knows it.

As they all point out- Dez has amazing control, and his runs are perfect. Just because he's pretty and doesn't have the sound you like, doesn't mean he shouldn't be in the race.

Let's not forget Travis (is that his name?) Oh I mean Bryan- he hasn't wow'd us at all until this last performance- what is everyone else watching? He's a guy who can Karaoke really well! Bout it. Half the time he's "talk-singing"

It'd be nice if you made sense, but you only make half sense. It's unfortunate.

I am constantly reminded that I'm not 12 years old anymore, because I'm not impressed with Cody or Dez.  Trevon is adorable, but his voice is too high for me.  It's just a personal choice, because he is good.  Sylvia has an amazing quality to her voice, but she shouldn't have tried to take on Celine.  I think that was a big mistake.  Most of the female singers have good voices, but are way too "normal" and rather boring.  I like singers who step outside the box.

I prefer Nicholas David, Terry, and Melanie, all for their uniqueness.   Nicholas David has a richness to his voice.  I doubt he'll win, because America is so caught up in appearance.  It's a shame too, because he's talented.  Melanie is so unique, and her voice gives me chills.  Not crazy about her hair, but it does help her to stand out.  Terry is just plain fun.  He brings back so many memories.  His voice is really clear, and strong.  I hope he sings more modern rock, because he'll fit in better with today's rockers.

While I understand your predictions, John, but it is only because America votes for the cute little "boy band" singers.  I can only hope your wrong.

The Bratman.....

Well, I agree with most of the decisions about who stays and who goes home. But this is better.....SEND Cee Lo & Christiana home for that horrid performance (they are bad) and keep the two that went home. As for the judges....get rid of Cee Lo Greene & possibly Christina. They are so out of it.

4 superstars as coaches?  sorry, cee lo isnt one.  adam?  successful band but there are more out there MORE successful.  xtina?  if her new song is any indication, she is sliding.  blake?  country maybe but kenny chesney is a tad better.

over zealous and tremendously superfluous accolades.

Trevin did a wonderful job singing when a man loves a women, ( my favorite)

Nicholas David is awesome and I agree with SC939 he is a original.

I think it will be Trevin and Amanda in the final two for those have the best voices in this

competition. In my opinion Cee Lo has the best group this year.

the whole show is a huge waste of time.

of course, nicholas david doesnt look like "a today's singer" but at least he has guts.  dez duron got the "cutie girls" vote - he shudda gone.  cody sings a lot better than dez anyway.  cassadee is not "a top headliner".  terry mc, well, isnt that good as an "old time rock" singer. sylvia was brave to take on a song sung by celine and it was good, but wont supplant celine's voice (as if many cud).

if amanda and trevin were sent packing - i wudnt watch the show (white guy here, over 21).  unless they truly screw up, these two will be face-to-face in the final.  either cud cause problems for todays "singers".   (note: it takes a lot to topple percy sledge on WAMLAW, trevin didnt quite make it, but he is DAYUM good.)  xtina sounded pretty bad for her "fame".

next week, the shoe will fall again.  let it be based on SINGING and NOT popularity.

Um, what is with your blatant dislike of Nicholas David? I read your linked "Predictions" article and he seems to really get under your skin.

He's far more talented than a lot of the other contestants on that show. He's ORIGINAL, which is a refreshingly far cry from pretty much everyone else left standing (not to mention most of the trash that plays on the radio nowadays). He has range, is creative, and has a sometimes strange but interesting stage presence that seems authentic--not forced, not choreographed, and not rehearsed in front of a mirror with a hairbrush microphone (*cough* Team Xtina *cough*). At this point, he's put a unique spin on a song from every decade since the 1960s (okay, minus the 90s). And for the love of God, he sang the freakin' theme song from "Back to the Future" with SOUL! I didn't know that was possible and I'm pretty sure that's not something everyone can do and actually pull off.

You'd really rather listen to Dez "Dime a Dozen" Duron? Or Sylvia "Pitchy" Yacoub? Are you secretly a 16-year-old girl?!
