'The Voice' top 10 results: An unexpected exit

Team Christina and Team Adam get smaller

Tonight has the potential to be a very shocking evening for "The Voice." The top 10 delivered some truly amazing performances Monday night, and finding two singers who deserve to go home is nearly impossible.

So what does "The Voice" have in store? I'm predicting Melanie Martinez and Sylvia Yacoub as the two singers going home. Although I do think there's a chance that Carson Daly might pardon the turkeys, so to speak, and keep everyone safe to celebrate the holidays. After all, since two singers are supposed to go every week and the finale is December 18, that would mean only two singers in the finale instead of four.

This is "The Voice"!

Carson Daly lets us know that Cassadee Pope and Melanie Martinez hit the iTunes Top 10, so both of their iTunes vote totals were multiplied by 10. I'm already doubting my Melanie prediction.

"Let There Be Love" by Team Xtina

Oh great, another song from Christina Aguilera's new album. By the end of the season I'm sure we'll have heard the whole damn thing. I'm so excited for Season 4 to get here already, so Xtina won't be pimping her album every episode. There is a cute bit, however, when Xtina starts singing, and then Dez Duron and Sylvia Yacoub are sitting in Xtina's red chair and push the button to turn around and join her.

To continue the massive social media marketing of "The Voice," there's a new segment in which Twitter determines which song will be performed on this night. Either Team Blake and Team Xtina will take on Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," or Team Adam and Team Cee Lo will do Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me." Since I am officially rooting against Xtina in every way imaginable, I'll take the latter.

Carson chats with the coaches, and he drops a "TRL" reference. Wow, between that and the way he impersonated Nicholas David's voice last night, I'm starting to love Carson Daly like it's the '90s all over again. Xtina then goes off on a 10-minute rant about how amazing her team is. Carson thanks Blake for the fact that Cassadee's song hit No. 1 on iTunes, beating Psy's "Gangnam Style." Yeah, "Gangnam Style" is so over. So naturally, "Glee" will be covering it next week.

Results: Part 1

The first singer safe is ... Nicholas David!
The second singer safe is ... Cassadee Pope!

My nightmare of continuing to have to watch Nicholas is still a reality. But there are no surprises here. Although part of me thinks Nicholas being the first person to get saved means there's a chance both of Cee Lo Green's other singers could go home.

"Changed" by Rascal Flatts featuring Cassadee Pope and Cody Belew

I'm not really into country music, so these guests are starting to grow old for me. "The X Factor" gets One Direction and Taylor Swift, and "The Voice" gets Rascal Flatts? On the bright side, it helps Blake Shelton's quest to morph Cassadee into a country artist.

Results: Part 2

The third singer safe is ... Dez Duron!
The fourth singer safe is ... Cody Belew!

Hooray for the hot guys! Dez was a no-brainer, but I'm stoked about Cody since his was a very out-there performance. But now what? Will Melanie's iTunes votes not matter? Is Trevin Hunte actually in real danger now? And I'm pretty sure not even God could save Sylvia at this point.

It's time for some awkward interviewing by Christina Milian! Rascal Flatts claim that they met Blake while in rehab. Nicholas David is still terrible at being interviewed.

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Team Adam

Here's why these team performances are a terrible idea: Adam Levine is a rock star; Amanda Brown has a rich, soulful diva voice; Bryan Keith is a Sinatra-esque crooner; and Melanie Martinez is quirky and weird. Those four styles don't mesh well at all. Also, I'm so tired of Adam Levine always making everyone wear the same color T-shirt and pants for performances. It's annoying. Carson scores more awesomeness points by thanking Adam's "hunky tattoos."

Results: Part 3

The fifth singer safe is ... Melanie Martinez!

So I guess iTunes really does matter. Now all the coaches and singers have incentive to pick hip, cool songs that people will want to download on iTunes to crack the Top 10 and get the 10-x advantage. Next week we'll get "Gangnam Style." Now, we're gonna have some insane eliminations tonight.

"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" by Team Blake and Team Xtina

I don't like Xtina winning anything, but Cassadee and Sylvia go well together, and Dez and Terry are great for this song. It's definitely not as bad as the Team Adam performance.

Results: Part 4

The sixth singer safe is ... Terry McDermott!

That's nice, but why is Amanda Brown still in danger? She had better not be going home.

Final Results

The seventh singer safe is ... Trevin Hunte!
The eighth singer safe is ... Amanda Brown!

Sylvia Yacoub and Bryan Keith are eliminated!

Wow. I predicted Sylvia, but I'm stunned Bryan is gone. I guess his song really was just too boring, especially since it came in between Cody's amazing performance and Amanda's impeccable vocal. Also, no one cares about Hurricane Sandy anymore.

So now Xtina is basically saying "Help me, Dez Duron, you're my only hope." And Cee Lo Green is still sitting pretty with all three of his singers.

John Kubicek is a little too interested in entertaining himself with his sarcastic comments than giving a fair review of The Voice. I picture him as a young punk-**** so impressed with himself and his ability to make any smart-**** comment he wants with little thought behind it. MSN get a new writer who is open minded about all types of music, who doesn't make insensitive, insulting comments just for his own amusement, and who knows how to write a good review! He should apologize to readers from New York/New Jersey, etc who read his comments about Hurricane Sandy. And I think Nicholas David is great - he's more interesting than Sylvia Yacoub - that's why she's gone.

This is coming from an guy that is ,past his mid 70's, but I love music, Jazz, classical, rock, country, etc.  I want to say this to the younger generation, if you like to sing or entertain, if it your dream, go for it, I am enjoying your singing very much, rather or not you pick who you think is the right coach for you, he or she may not be, so do not stop there, keep going with your dream, do not get me wrong, I like the coaches , they are there to help, all in all I like seeing you all taking the chance in life,  look at some of those that took the chance, Jackie Evancho, K. McPhee and the young guy that is singing country, cannot think of his name at the moment,  I guess all I am saying is go for it.  I enjoy your music, all of you, thank you very much.

Can't believe that Melanie made it thru...yeck!  I figure it must be the votes of pre teen girls that are keeping her there, the same way no talent Taylor Swift has gotten to the top of the charts.

Please let a singer with a real voice win.

A little too opinionated for my taste...What's wrong with Christina?? She has an amazing voice. Really, all of the coaches have true talent. Which makes this show so much better than the X Factor (it just seems fake and like the coaches really don't know about or care about their contestants).

Anyway, I am glad that Sylvia & Bryan are gone. Amanda Brown is next I hope. I really feel like Trevin has amazing vocals, a very wide range. Melanie is definitely different and refreshing, she has an amazing and unique take on songs and she plays several instruments. Dev has talent and I think he will go far, but I do not think that he is the most unique or widely ranged, but he could definitely sell records. I hated Cassadee until she did Blake's song, which brought me to tears! She should try country music, it fits her voice much better.  Cody isn't impressing me. He can sing, but I don't predict him as the winner. His talent is not as great as others. Nicholas has a unique voice which I love to hear, but I don't see him winning the competition either. And Terry is kick **** of course, but I don't see him winning either.

I think that if it is up to America, the winner will be Melanie, Trevin, or Dez. I see them as the truest and most popular contestants. I voted for all of the top 8, except Amanda & Cody. I just hope that all of these who are left land some type of music careers after, because I would love to continue to listen to them!! :]

What a disgusting this to say about Sandy. I am from Vermont and went through Irene last year. We are still trying to recover. What happened from Sandy is devastating and still is and will be for a very long time while people try to recover from losing their entire lives. You should be ashamed. Enjoy your cushy life over these holidays.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE VOTING FOR MELANIE??? She does not deserve to go forward.  Brian deserved it more. Melanie is to young, and especially in about three to four years her voice will mature more and won't be able to sing as well as people think.  Melanie sucks!!!

Seriously, John Kubicek, I hope someday you experience an extreme storm like Sandy destroying your home. (And I do not usually wish ill-will toward people.) Your comment about no one cares about hurricane sandy anymore makes me want to throw-up. Never attach comments like that in your writing and attach it to a great show like The Voice. Happy Thanksgiving... be grateful for your food, warmth, roof, coat, gloves, sunscreen, flushing toilet, running water, air conditioning... whatever you have and consume, you better appreciate it.

Nicholas is really the one that has the different voice, so does Melanie. The rest sound just like every other musician out there today. Nothing different. They will be one hit wonders and that is it.

After Nicholas David's performance, Blake commented that he didn't know why but it was like watching a classic rock performance.  I know why...  Nicholas David looks and sounds like he just stepped off stage with the Allman Brothers.

Long '70s hair?  Check...

Scraggly beard? Check...

Blues sound?  Check...

HOW DARE YOU SAY "NO ONE CARES ABOUT HURRICANE SANDY ANYMORE"!!! I live at the Jersey Shore, it's my home and a lot of my friends don't have homes anymore. YOU ARE AN INSENSITIVE JERK!!

This article was for the most part hysterical to read.  Almost everything I agree with.  The thing with Nicholas is, he actually represents what "the voice" is about (in my own opinion).  He keeps getting through because he's got a good voice.  I'm getting tired of seeing him sing the same types of songs though.  He bores me.  I liked Sylvia, suprised she went home.  I wasn't a Cassadee fan until she sang Blake's song, now I don't mind her half as much.  I LOVE Cody!  I was thrilled when he was saved!  I really liked Bryan until his last performance.  I think Melanie can do more, Christina never really has anything nice to say to her after she sings!  Love Terry, love Amanda.  Loved the mohawk girl, I cant remember her name, I want to say McKenzie but that was the boy.

Oh and I was affected by Sandy so yes that comment was insensitive, you shouldnt have written that!

As a writer and a critic I am embarrassed by such immature, snotty, uninteresting writing as this John Kubicek has done.....Sorry John some of your remarks, especially regarding Hurricane Sandy, were totally uncalled for and totally unprofessional.....I wouls uggest strongly that rather than be a critic, which you are not, that you find a more suitable job, like the one that says, "Want fries with that?" You have no business being a writer and embarrass all of us who are professionals.

I don't know who wrote this article but I will never click on the MSN homepage link to read the updates on this show because the writer is just horrible. Or maybe not...if she was writing for Teen Bop Magazine or something. Stick to the facts and leave your opinion out of it. What you said about Hurricane Sandy was simple ignorance and criticizing  the guest bc of their looks is very immature. I wanna bet your an insecure 16 years old, popping gum wearing a Hello Kitty shirt with pajama pants and wannabe Ugg boots. Which is perfectly fine if your 16 but if you are older.......wow... is all I have to say.

Cody is absolutelty a horrible vocalist period.  He would be great on broadway or in vegas in a cocktail lounge but he is not a true vocalist.  This competition is called "the voice" not the flamboyant entertainer.  He is talented in working a crowd just not the best vocalist.  I guess that is why C-lo likes him?! I like C-lo but he would never last in this type f competition just like Cody shouldn't
