Which favorite soap stars and returning winners are in the running?
Though the 39th Annual Daytime Emmys hasn't yet found a new home or producer, the show will go on! The Drama Performer Pre-nominees for 2011 performances were announced on Mar. 2, and there are some familiar soap stars in the lineup, including some of last year’s winners (above) and actors from the cancelled soaps "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." Pre-nominees who received the most votes during this round will advance to the blue ribbon at-home screening round, which begins Mar. 27 and determines both the nominees and winners.
Bing: More about The Daytime Emmys
The Daytime Emmys continue to evolve, and this year marks the use of a new initiative to determine the Drama Performer Pre-nominees. As the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) explains: "A ballot containing a full list of entrants in each of the six performer categories was sent to registered, eligible peer judges. The ballot contained an unrevealed and randomized order of performers in each category, regardless of their show affiliation. Judges were required to view clips containing the work of each performer entry before selecting their top 10 performer choices in each category. The judges sent their ballots directly to Lutz & Carr, an independent accounting firm, who tabulated the results. The Lead Actor contains 11 pre-nominated performers due to a tie in this category."

"On March 26, my first single is coming out and it’s called 'Boyfriend,'" Bieber shared. "That's very exciting. The song is, basically, I’m talking to this girl and I'm like, 'If I was your boyfriend I would never let you go.' I wrote it with Mike Posner. The verses, I'm talking-rapping and then on the hook, I'm signing. It's a really awesome song."
Unfortunately, Bieber couldn't give fans a preview. "I have to wait, because then they gotta be happy when it comes on iTunes and they can buy it," he explained.
In honor of Bieber's big 1-8, Ellen teamed up with his manager, Scooter. Though uncomfortable on TV, Scooter raved about young Biebs, revealing that he met with a Make-A-Wish kid after every one of his 86 shows. Then Scooter surprised his charge with a gift from him and Usher.
"You always work really hard and I always yell at you, 'Don’t get anything flashy. We're not about that. Be humble, be humble,' and I kind of broke my own rule," Scooter teased. "We wanted to make sure, since you love cars, that when you’re on the road you are always environmentally friendly and we decided to get you a car that would make you stand out…. I think you know where I'm going and you're kind of freaking out right now. That's a Fisker Karma!"
DeGeneres topped off the gift with a loving sun reflector (see image) and a bobble head of herself for his dashboard.
She also gave him an even better gift - a fan in a box! Ellen sent Jeannie to a Bieber superfan's house and asked her to get in a box. She had no idea she was about to be shipped to the show to meet her favorite person, but she jumped in anyway. Watch this clip to see how she reacts when she sees where she's going, and who's waiting for her there!
"The Ellen Show" airs weekdays in syndication.
ABC's soapy drama gets its latest star addition
Look out, Kate: Billie's coming home!
As "Days of Our Lives" fans have no doubt heard, Billie Reed will be back in Salem on Thursday, March 8, with Lisa Rinna back in the role. When MSN TV caught up with Rinna back in January, she was tight-lipped but teasy about reclaiming the role she originated in 1992. She didn't give much away, but we still weren't able to share it! Now, the embargo has been lifted: Billie's return will bring big drama with Mama Kate and a few fun flirtations as "Days" tests Rinna's chemistry with some of the local players, but hopefully no trouble for Bo and Hope. At least, that's what Rinna says in the Q&A below. With Hope and John currently sharing a room and memories in Alamainia, trouble may be coming for Bope fans anyway.
For the record, Krista Allen and Julie Pinson also spent time in Billie's shoes, but Rinna wore them from 1992 to 1995 and then again from 2002 to 2003.
MSN TV: Is it true you're coming back to "Days"?
Lisa Rinna: Yes, I'm back! I haven't aired yet, but I'm back at work. It's like walking back into high school. All the same people I worked with in the '90s are back. It's like a time warp, because no one really looks any different and they're all running around in a pack. That's how it was in the '90s. I walked in, and there's packs again! I have to say: It's really nice. Everyone now has families, and they're married and their adults. We were all kind of kids when we first did it.
Is Billie going to cause trouble?
The only thing I can tell you is that I come to work with my mother at Countess Wilhelmina, which is the company that I started. I've gotten to work with a couple of the new people, but mostly with Kate. I've had a lot of scene with her, which is interesting.
There hasn't been any talk about romance?
Well, I can't discuss that! But I am being toyed around with different suitors.
It's been a few years since we've seen Billie. Is she the same woman?
She's evolved. She's 17 years older, for God's sakes, but she's the same Billie. She's the same spunky, free spirit, definitely. It's interesting to come back and play a character you played 17 years ago and step back into her shoes as a wife and a mother, with all the life experiences I've had. Bringing that wisdom to her is fascinating. I don't know how many actors or actresses get a chance to do that, so I find it a treat. It's like riding a bike. It would be the same thing if I went back to play Taylor on "Melrose Place." When you play a character you love, you remember. You go in and it takes five minutes. Whoomp, I'm that character!
What kind of Twitter response have you gotten to the news that you're returning?
They're very happy that Billie's coming back: They do not want her to mess up Bo and Hope! I think we're safe there.
You were one of the first celebs to jump on the Twitter train. Do you actually enjoy it?
Twitter's been fun for me. It came out of having a book to sell -- my first book, "Rinnavation." My book agent said, "You've got to try out this Twitter." Twitter had just started, and I was like, "What the hell are you talking about?" Sure enough, it helped sell that book and put it on the New York Times Bestseller list. He was right. So I enjoy it. Twitter's a great thing, because you get to follow who you want follow, whatever vibe you want to pick up, whatever thing you want to learn. I do communicate and respond [to the fans]. I know I shamelessly sell things, like anybody else, too! But I also feel it's important to be able to be myself. I'm not playing a character. I'm not hosting a show or doing a reality show. It's just me.
You've had your own talk show and done the reality show thing: Why go back to acting now?
I've been very blessed and gotten to do a lot of different things. I love everything I get to do, at the time, but I studied to be an actor. My heart is to be an actor. I said to Harry [Hamlin] six months ago, "I feel like I need to act again," and he said, "You should. Go do it."
Would you and Harry ever let cameras back into your life again?
We did have a wonderful time. Would we ever do it again? Probably not. Reality is all about chaos. We did it just long enough.
Didn't you also close your boutique, Belle Gray?
We closed that and morphed it into something else. It's more in line with my creating my own line [Belle Gray by Lisa Rinna]. We launched it Feb. 24 [on QVC].
Is there anything you haven't done that you're still dying to do?
I've been so blessed: to be able to do "Chicago" on Broadway, "Dancing With the Stars." I do a lot, but there's a lot I haven't done that I'd like to do. I'd like to continually brand and grow.
Well, in the meantime, I can't wait to see you back in Salem.
I'm pleased as an actor coming back to play this part and I think the audience will be pleased. It's fun!
