'Jimmy Kimmel' '/' ABC

Call it the circle of late-night life. Jay Leno takes shots at NBC. And his competitor, Jimmy Kimmel, talks smack about him.

Kimmel sat down with CNN's Jake Tapper Thursday to talk about Jimmy Fallon possibly replacing Leno. Kimmel said Leno dumbs down his jokes but added, "The guy is one of the great comedians. He is a rock."

Kimmel also said he wouldn't be surprised if Fallon took Leno's job. "Obviously, NBC is looking to move on, because they did it once already," Kimmel said. "This would be the second time that this has happened. So I mean, it makes perfect sense. And Jimmy Fallon is doing a great job."

Not one to shy away from criticizing Leno, Kimmel said his mom has asked him to stop.

"I have diarrhea of the mouth," Kimmel joked. "I'm asked about it, I tend to go on and on."

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT on NBC.

These late night wars have been going on since Leno took over the Tonight Show instead of David Letterman. Then Leno stole a bunch of comedy bits from the Howard Stern Show. Leno has not endeared himself to the other comedians with his actions. Personally I'll watch Letterman or Kimmel. I've watched Leno a couple of times, but its just not funny. Jay is a better standup than a talk show host.

Kimmel should just shut up already. I kind've liked him and Conan at one time. At this point after seeing their unfair and disrespectfull treatment of Leno (can you imagine Carson being treated like this), I can't stand either one of them. BTW I've always preferred Letterman. Leno was screwed by Conan and NBC once and when Conan tanked he agreed to come back. I wish Leno would have gone to another network and took his #1 rated audience with him. NBC wanted to bring in a younger demographic with Conan and now want to do it again with Fallon. Especially now that a younger Kimmel is doing well. I think Fallon is a more  well rounded entertainer than Kimmel. If nothing else the future should be interesting.

Kimmel, Letterman are funny!  Leno & Fallon don't compare, these are two guys who are really not that funny, unless you're an idiot right wing who also enjoys the crap Dennis Miller throws up out there........Aghhhh!!!!

Leno took it on his big chin with his loyal viewers when he had Obama on a couple days before the election and endorsed him.., not schmart Jay.., your viewers voted for the other guy and were highly offended by you having O on your show so close to the election and endorsing him! The irritation with Jay will pass eventually, and I hope Jay keeps his job.., because Fallon is not funny.

love Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno has class. Kimmel is a pathetic, jealous fool, get some new jokes and stop with all the celebrity worshiping and then someone would possibly watch you. You are boring!!! Jay is just a good old American fellow that I love, I get his jokes, he is not mean spirited. Go Jimmy and Jay, you got my remote hooked. lol ---Letterman is a mean old nasty man, that need to retire.

Am I missing something????Jay Leno has been around for years, and he does a great job.  Is he a Jekyl/Hyde personality?  Because everybody is dumping on tthe guy.  He is funny and I enjoy his show.  Kimmel is an irritating twit.  Letterman is too sarcastic, not to mention he apparently screws around with his staffers--oh, and he's married!  Fallon is ok, but what is up with the idiots who run NBC?  We had the Today show debacle, the Conan/Leno debacle, now this???  What ever happened to common sense, common and professional courtesy??  Leno took a massive pay cut to keep his staff employed--i doubt you wil see Kimel or Letterman do that.  Leave the Tonght show alone.

" Kimmel said Leno dumbs down his jokes but added, "The guy is one of the great comedians. He is a rock."   Forked tongue much Mr. Kimmel?  Do you respect the man or not?  As I remember it, the feud was between Letterman and Leno.  What's your beef?  Give it a rest, misplaced resentment does not become you.

Kimmel = Very funny guy, quick witted and thank god not another Leno. Letterman and Kimmel excel while Leno bores and appeals to the slow and dim-witted amongst us, of which there are many. *See below* I like Fallon too and certainly much more than Leno. If you're a right-winged turd, Leno probably appeals to you, if you think for yourself, ANYONE else is better.

I was a regular viewer of the Tonight Show with Carson. It really did not matter who the guest was going to be. I (we) watched to see Carson. Today we will watch a Late night talk show  only if they have a guest who we are interested in. The host is secondary........

Had they left Conan in that spot his audience would have found him.  His humor is different that Leno's and is missing that little subtle mean streak that Leno seems to show more and more.  I love Fallon, and he is fun to watch, but as for dumbing down, well Fallon can get a whole lotta dumb in just a  few moments.  He is predictable.  The king ( Carson ) is gone and NBC seems desperate to duplicate him.  Sorry, it can't be done.
