More Broadway for 'Glee'
'Wicked' star Idina Menzel to make a 'Glee'ful appearance

Following in the footsteps of her "Wicked" costar Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel is set to sing for her supper on the Fox hit "Glee."Menzel is expected to sign on as a recurring character for the last nine episodes of the season. But she's not going to be playing Rachel's mom -- as fans of the show were hoping, based on the resemblance between Menzel and Lea Michele, who plays her.
Instead, Menzel is set to get a little wicked as the director of a rival school's champion glee club, Vocal Adrenaline -- giving McKinley High some fierce competition. The rival club's lead vocalist will be played by fellow Broadway vet Jonathan Groff, who recently starred in "Spring Awakening" on the great white way with Lea Michele as well.
The news comes on heels of Menzel's husband Taye Diggs announcing Menzel's interest in appearing on the show: "I know that she would love that," he said last week. He added that couple, who met on Broadway while doing "Rent," TiVo the show every week. "We are just so happy to see a lot of these theater kids [like Michele] get the opportunity to do some television work."
No word yet on whether Kristin Chenoweth -- who spent a few weeks on the show as April Rhodes, glee club supervisor Will's high school crush who re-enrolls at McKinley on a technicality -- will be making a return. But like many Broadway fans, we'd think it would be totally wicked to see her reunited with Menzel
