Michael and Michael Have An eBay Ad
The 'State'-ly duo are a surprising choice for the online auctioneer's newest marketing campaign

Sometime "The State"/"Stella" member-cum-current "Michael and Michael Have Issues" star Michael Ian Black was a recurring interviewee on VH1's "I Love the..." decade-in-review clip shows. He was also the first in line to self-effacingly observe the whoreish nature of his appearances on the incessantly reran nostalgic countdowns. But alas, the compensation for talking-head work doesn't exactly include generous residuals (not that I would know or anything), and Ian Black—along with his "Issues" co-hort and longtime comedic battery mate Michael Showalter—have finally acquiesced and auctioned off their talents to a national ad campaign for eBay.
As a possible reference to their tattoo-oriented cameo in the "Reno 911!" movie, the above spot features Showalter in a typically emasculating scenario—specifically, having his lower back branded with a dolphin portrait that he misconstrued for a shark while laying in a topless Shiatsu position. Ian Black, meanwhile, adds the insult of prudence to his compatriot's injury by snapping pics of the humiliation with a camera that Showalter mistakes for his own, but is actually an inexpensive version that Ian Black scored off of eBay.
And in case the above description was something of an untangelable run-on sentence, you should probably just watch the 30-second clip (ya lazy bastard!). It may not be the duo's most subversive work, but it's even harder to comprehend how the majority of their admirably demented material has passed through major-network censors. To wit:

Michael & Michael Have Issues ' Live Commercials: Seemingly, Comedy Central has recognized that their demo is not too likely to stick around through a commercial break, opting to fast forward through the ads or take a Twitter break instead. In fact, many young viewers only watch television commercials when someone sends them a YouTube link to one. Turning the traditional 30-second spot on its head, the titular Michaels (comedians Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter) of Michael & Michael Have Issues perform sketch ads for brands such as Palm, Dunkin Donuts, and Klondike during what would normally be commercial breaks. Mad Men team, are you listening? We'll probably buy anything Don Draper tries to sell us.
