Chuck Lorre Confesses 'Two and a Half' Mistakes
Charlie Sheen's nemesis acknowledges 'heartbreak' and show's slippery footing
FX may have ordered Charlie Sheen to conceal the gold crown in his Cheshire-cat smile while doing publicity for "Anger Management," but his former pal and "Two and a Half Men" collaborator, Chuck Lorre, is finding very little to grin about. Or at least when it comes to very public falling out with the actor over the course of last year. Two and a Half Men is still absolutely my favorite show. Kutcher is evolving. He is good. It is fascinating to watch how Lorre weaves and re-works the show while going through such a difficult situation and transition. Lorre is a genius in his craft. I still get that feeling of awe when the jokes go so well. Cryer is still wonderful. His character is getting beyond the "shock" of the abrupt change the show undertook. The relationship changes between Cryer's character and Kutcher's is starting to endear the viewer to them, as it had with the "brothers." Kutcher is gaining in his role. I only wish I could have a smidgen of all their talent. Two and a Half Men is really a reality show in progress. To slog though this mortifying situation rather than giving up makes me have sincere admiration for every original star on that show, along with its creators. My enjoyment of the show increases incrementally with each show as it gains footing again. Can't wait for Monday!!
Kutcher would not be nearly as bad if you'd get rid of the girlfriend. She turns him into a totally whipped spineless dork. One episode suggests their physical relationship leaves quite a bit to be desired, so why does he cow-tow to her anyway? There's nothing funny in her. She doesn't make me laugh she makes me want to puke. Kutcher will never be Sheen, but he can be funny in a different way - just not as long as that gold-digging, nagging, "holier than thou" with bad teeth is running (ruining) the show.
