Josh Duhamel gets back in soap opera game
Former 'All My Children' star to bring his daytime experience to prime time
Daytime soap operas have been fighting to stay relevant and on the air for the last few years. While the remaining contenders are performing, several shows have fallen, including "All My Children," which was Josh Duhamel's former stomping grounds. Now, the "Transformers" hunk is going back home with a prime-time drama about life on a struggling soap opera.
Bing: More about Josh Duhamel
The idea for the soap within a soap comes from Duhamel, who was a fan fave during his run as Leo DuPre on "All My Children." According to Hollywood Reporter, the ABC series will focus on the behind the scenes drama, machinations and divas on a soap that's fighting to stay in the game. If the series makes it to air, daytime fans will no doubt be looking for a Susan Lucci, Eden Reigel or Rebecca Budig among the characters, not to mention stars from other soaps.

Duhamel developed the idea with Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts ("Revenge," "GCB"), who are working on the script, HR reports. Nicholas Pepper and actor Oliver Hudson are lined up to co-executive produce and word is, Duhamel and Hudson may also appear onscreen in a guest star or recurring capacity.
