Report: Seth Meyers Frontrunner to Replace Regis

Would co-host with Kelly Ripa and continue 'SNL' news

It's nearly a reality -- at least, according to Showbiz411. The popular morning show has until September to decide on Kelly Ripa's permanent new co-host.


Since Regis Philbin retired last November, a conga line of potential co-hosts has tried his chair on for size. But when Meyers returns on Monday -- following well-received stints in April and May -- he will, tellingly, be granted the first full-week stand since Neil Patrick Harris's last year. And this one is during sweeps week.

According to the report, the current contenders also include former football great Michael Strahan and singer Josh Groban.


"Others who’d like the gig have not been asked back as many times as Meyers," Showbiz411 reports. "Strahan has been a strong contender, but in the end, I’m told, it’s Meyers who has the widest appeal, background and strengths."


If the move happens, Meyers can still keep his gig reading the fake news on "Saturday Night Live." However, he would probably have to resign as the show's head writer.


"Live! with Kelly" airs weekday mornings in syndication. Check your local listings.

Now I get it . . .  The Seth Meyers haters LOVE Donald Trump.   Seth insulted Donald at a roast and Donald has been crying since.  Donald has turned into a whiny old man and hates, insults, degrades everyone and anyone in his path.  Donald thinks he can strongarm the world.  His followers can only believe and think the same as him. 

 

Seth is a great talent that can carry the show.   I find his humor smart.  He's refreshing on the "Live, what the hell happened to Kelly show".

 

I recognize that Kelly is working hard facing new cohosts everyday but she has changed into something that is not real.  She's so egotistical and boring.  She searches for camera shots more than that Paris Hilton/Michael Jackson lover on Jimmy Kimmel.  She's funny when she's herself and natural but she is so thin, she has no chest..  Exercise is healthy but she needs a talking to.

Please, not Seth Myers. He is as funny as someone watching paint dry. I can guarentee you, if he's the pick, the show will be canceled in a year. My vote goes to Michael Strahan, they are actually funny together of all her co-hosts.

I can't believe the show still has enough ratings not to be cancelled.  Nothing personal against Kelly who seems like a nice person in general, but she can hardly carry a show on her own.  I used to watch with Regis, but have no interest anymore with Kelly...I think she has gone downhill as a co-host without Regis....he made the show entertaining and she was along for the ride with good chemistry with him........

 

It seems her ego has taken over if you compare her with her former self in shows past.  She's more blonde, more pulled together with her designer duds, thinner, more tan...etc.    I'm uncomfortable watching her, it's like she's distracted by her looks and visibly thinking about her next move or next comment, her mannerisms are irritating and she leaves me wondering what happened to her "down to earth" appeal. 

 

As far as a co-host to join her, if there is anyone with some sense in charge, they need to find somone who is actually FUNNY and can wake Kelly up from her stupor and make the show watchable again......and none of the current contenders are it.

Kelly seems to have great chemistry with any one who sits in the chair next to her. A reviewer, a few weeks ago, wrote that he hoped the show would keep the present format--different guests hosts, as opposed to finding a 'permanent' co-host. I think that could work.  Most of the guest co-hosts the show has had on since Regis left really can't give up their 'day jobs' to do a 5-day-a-week show.  I wonder what the show will be called IF Seth is the 'chosen one'? Live! With Kelly and Seth?? Hmm....

I'm really hoping that Michael Strahan will be her co-host!  They are so cute together, they look good together and they have wonderful chemistry.  I truly enjoy watching when they are on together. In my humble opinion Micheal Strahan is the only one in the running to replace Regis.....  Is there somewhere to vote?

Just one more thing about Seth.....I can't imagine what he'd do for an hour when Kelly was on vacation or sick.  I don't think he can carry that kind of show on his own.

I think Michael Strahan should be chosen as Regis' replacement.  He and Kelly have good chemistry and appear to truly be enjoying themselves when together.  Their body language when on camera is relaxed and they even lean into each other while talking.  Michael is much more mature than Seth, more well-known, and is truly a gentleman.  He is devoted to family, as is Kelly, and is visibly embarassed whenever a "double entendre" or mildly suggestive topic is brought up.  I used to watch Regis & Kelly every day before Regis left and now I only watch when Michael is on.  Seth seems to be much more immature and "silly" when working with Kelly.  Michael brings dignity, good values, and by being older, has more experience to pull from when discussing events with Kelly and/or any guests on the show.

LOVE Seth Myers...but on shows like SNL.  And Josh Groban is GREAT, but singing is his thing!  Now Michael Strahan is the "BOMB", and has the MOST appeal, and the best chemistry with Kelly by far!!!!

Michael Strahan is the best fit for Kelly.  The interaction between the two is great.  Seth does not bring anything to the table.  He is very drab and no personality.  Hopefully these comments count in their decision making.  I for one will no longer watch the show if Seth is a permanent co-host.

Seth Meyer is the WORST writer in the history of SNL. What makes the producers of Ripa's show believe that this dud will liven up the show? They'd be better off getting a potato as co-host. At least a potato would be interesting!

Kelly Ripa and Seth Myers have great on-air chemistry, and it'll be interesting to see how he scores with viewers during sweeps week.  Ripa also does great with Michael Strahan and Josh Groban, and the guys each bring a different aspect of "shine" to the show.  Gelman will be as hard-pressed to find a personality to fill the chair Regis Philbin vacated, as he did a few years ago when Ripa replaced Kathy Lee Gifford.  Whoever gets the job will be one of the luckiest guys in TV with a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract, and millions of daily viewers across the country.

Head writer makes Seth responsible for that lousy show SNL.
Josh G=zzzzzzzzzzz His music helps w/ my insomnia.
Don't know the jock. They usually make for a lousy tv guest.
