Andre Braugher cast in Andy Samberg comedy pilot
Emmy-winning dramatic actor to play a police captain
Andre Braugher is trying his hand at comedy.
The 50-year-old character actor, who is best known for roles on "Homicide: Life On the Street" and "Men Of a Certain Age," will join the cast of Andy Samberg's untitled sitcom pilot for FOX, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The show, which comes from the producers behind "Parks and Recreation," follows a group of detectives who bond as a makeshift family in a remote New York police precinct. Braugher will play a character named Captain Holt.
In addition to Samberg and Braugher, the show will also star actor Terry Crews. Braugher, who has been moonlighting on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" as of late, was also co-starring on the short-lived naval drama, "Last Resort," before ABC pulled the plug.
