'Boardwalk Empire' Season 3 Trailer Released
More death and violence, plus James Cromwell, Bobby Cannavale and Stephen Root
Enoch "Nucky" Thompson isn't afraid to take lives anymore. And if the latest trailer for HBO's hit mob drama "Boardwalk Empire" is to be believed, he's a killing machine in Season 3.
Fans will of course have to wait until September to get to know the new Nucky (Emmy-nominated star Steve Buscemi) -- who got a taste for blood after killing Jimmy (Michael Pitt) in the Season 2 finale -- and his seemingly itchy trigger finger. But we have a feeling the introduction will be worth the wait.
Speaking of introductions, the trailer also shows intriguing glimpses of several new cast members including character actors Bobby Cannavale ("Nurse Jackie"), James Cromwell ("L.A. Confidential") and Stephen Root ("Office Space" and "Justified").
Cannavale will join the drama as Gyp Rosetti, a charming but bloodthirsty gangster who takes on Nucky, and Root will co-star as a crook turned special investigator named Gaston Means. No word yet on who Cromwell -- he's also joining the cast of "American Horror Story: Asylum" -- will play.
Other significant teases include Al Capone (Stephen Graham) and Chalky White's (Michael K. Williams, "The Wire") power grabs and Margaret's (Kelly Macdonald) ongoing moral battles.
"Boardwalk Empire" returns for a third season Sunday, Sept. 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
