Landau, Madsen Added to 'Anna Nicole Story'
Lifetime flick gets some star power and a big-name director

Just when you think former "Sideways" Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen was out of the spotlight, network TV pulls her back in for a flick based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith. That's how that famous quote goes, right? Well, in any event, it's certainly true. After popping up in this season of "Hell on Wheels," Ms. Madsen is once again lined up for small-screen duty.
Deadline reports that the 51-year-old actress will portray Anna's mom, Virgie, in Lifetime's upcoming "Anna Nicole Story." Not only that, but she'll be joined by bona fide Academy Award winner Martin Landua, who's (somewhat unbelievably) on board to play Smith's ex-husband, oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. And lest you think "The Anna Nicole Story" is merely going to exploit the ex-Playmate's notoriety and untimely death, "American Psycho" director Mary Harron has been hired behind the camera for some boosted cred.
This gives some serious juice to the biopic, which had recently announced the addition of relative unknown Agnes Bruckner in the lead role of Anna Nicole. Given the buzzy casting, and in the words of Martin Landau's out-of-touch agent Bob Ryan on "Entourage," there's only one remaining question: Is that something you might be interested in?
