As if original cable series weren't tense and suspenseful enough of late, along comes FX's "The Americans," which takes traces of "Homeland" and "Arlington Road" and sets it all to boil atop a low flame of Reagan-era Cold War insidiousness. Fortunately, we've got several weeks to cool off from the fall season to steel ourselves for whatever this latest upstart has in mind for our fragile nerves.
FX has announced that "The Americans," which stars former "Felicity" young-adult idol Keri Russell alongside Matthew Rhys as KGB spies-cum-suburban Americans in Washington, D.C., will premiere Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Noah Emmerich is also in the mix as an FBI task-force leader who happens to move in next door to this seemingly patriotic couple and their two kids. Uh-oh SpaghettiOs.
And just in case you can't wait one minute longer to begin prematurely heightening your anxiety, here's a glimpse of what "The Americans" has in store:
"The Americans" premieres Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
