Bette Midler 'still waiting' for 'Glee'
Iconic singer and actress says she's ready when Ryan Murphy is

Anyone who's seen Bette Midler serenade Kramer with show tunes on "Seinfeld" or croon with Krusty on "The Simpsons" knows the current "Parental Guidance" star can fit her enormous talent and personality onto the small screen. Which is exactly why "Glee" fans started buzzing when rumors swirled that she'd be the latest A-lister dropping in on FOX's musical dramedy. Unfortunately, the Divine Miss M is still waiting on magnanimous showrunner Mr. Ryan Murphy.
While speaking with "Access Hollywood" as part of her "Parental Guidance" press tour, the 67-year-old legend explained that Murphy publicly extended the invite while onstage at an event honoring Michael Kors earlier this year. Only she hasn't heard a peep from him since.
"I don't know. [Murphy] never called me," she said. "He mentioned it, but … I'm still waiting for the call. But, it's fine!” Midler even went so far as to express her fondness for Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester before opining, “Maybe I could play her evil sister!”
Only if that means we get a Midler/Lynch Macaroni.
"Glee" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
