Zooey Deschanel will not stop until her irrepressible, Gracie Allen-like charm is spread across television like adorable fertilizer. In addition to a slew of "New Girl"-related casting additions, TV Line now confirms that Deschanel will reprise her animated role of pig-tailed heartbreaker Mary Spuckler on both the "Simpsons" season premiere and its Valentine's Day episode, "Love is a Many Splintered-Thing."
Will Mary and Bart finally discover a way to make their on-again, off-again courtship stick? Will fellow V-Day guest stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Max Weinberg conspire to rob Deschanel of her Springfield spotlight? Will "The Simpsons" continue to produce new episodes even after Hank Azaria can barely articulate himself through a mouth of artificial teeth?
Only some of these questions will be answered when "Many-Splintered Thing" airs this winter. The latter query will occupy viewers and critics for untold decades to come.
"The Simpsons" Season 25 premieres Sunday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
