Will and Sonny have sex on 'Days of Our Lives'?
Fans can expect some November sweeps action long in the making
"The Will and Sonny fans have waited a long time for this, but the delay has been a good thing," Freddie Smith (Sonny) told TV Guide. "It's allowed the audience to get to know our characters and to get to a place where they are really rooting for them to get together. I don't expect anyone will think the sex scene is controversial. Hopefully, we're past that. This isn't a story about two gay guys. It's about two human beings who truly love each other."
Emmy winner Chandler Massey (Will) agreed on all counts, but had to admit, "It's about time!"
The TV Guide sneak peak and story scoop also revealed that as things are heating up on Oct. 29, Will's dad Lucas walks in on them. In spite of his support when Will came out, it sounds like he'll have a problem with what he sees. Massey explained that Lucas is OK with his son being gay "in theory," but seeing him get sexy with another man makes it all too real. Lucas also isn't sure about Will's choice in men.

"What's crazy is that Sonny is the responsible one here," Massey said. "He's going to school. He owns a business. If I were a parent I'd have a much bigger problem with my son getting involved with someone like Will. He's the real pain in the ass in this equation!"
While the actors are hoping their big scene doesn't create controversy, gay sex in daytime is bound to generate some heated discussion. But from their end, it was actually easier than shooting their first kiss.
"Our hearts were really pounding during that one, but it worked out great because our characters' hearts were pounding, too," Smith recalled. "Since then, Will and Sonny have done enough flirting and kissing and cuddling that, as actors, we weren't nervous about finally getting to the sex. The way we shot it is very real and passionate but tasteful. Chandler and I are comfortable with each other and it shows. We have good chemistry. We trust each other."
"Days of Our Lives" airs weekdays on NBC.
