Tony Shalhoub Returning to Comedy
Longtime 'Monk' star to join 'How I Met Your Mother' producer's pilot

Just the other day, we reported news of a "Scrubs" reunion on TV Land's single-dudes laugher "The Exes." Now, word has leaked that another reputed primetime funnyman is dipping his toes in the male-bonding waters. According to TV Line, beloved former "Monk" lead detective Tony Shalhoub has agreed to join the pilot for "How I Met Your Mother" producer Rob Greenberg's latest CBS project. The as-yet-untitled sitcom will focus on a jilted fiancé (Chris Smith) who moves into a new pad and makes friends with his divorcee neighbors. Shalhoub will play Frank, a four-times married (and, as the show description would have it, divorced), self-proclaimed Don Juan who lives in said apartment complex and presumably fills the cultural gap left by Larry Dallas on "Three's Company." He will take residence alongside "Harold & Kumar" vet, "House" casualty and ex-White House employee (seriously) Kal Penn in the fairly promising cast.
No word yet on potential air dates or whether Shalhoub's latest character will, like Monk, have OCD: obsessively charming disorder.
