Gary Cole to do his best Karl Rove on 'Veep'

Everyone's favorite 'Office Space' boss reportedly signs on for Season 2

It takes a special kind of comedic actor to embody both America's favorite TV dad and the big screen's most notoriously drone-like corporate supervisor. Specifically, such scenarios call for Gary Cole, whose dry turns as kindly patriarch Mike Brady in "The Brady Bunch Movie" and TPS-assigning bossman in "Office Space," respectively (along with his memorable roles in "Entourage" and "Talladega Nights"), have cemented his ubiquity on our cable guides.

That omnipresence is about to be further assured with an upcoming regular turn on HBO's Emmy-winning political satire, "Veep." Deadline reports that Cole has been tapped as a key addition to the cast in 2013. While the network has kept mum on details, Deadline alleges that he'll portray a "Karl Rove"-type Capitol Hill figure named Kent.

It's been a busy offseason for "Veep," which also hired veteran character actor Kevin Dunn (most recently a casualty of the "Luck" cancellation) to play the President's Chief-of-Staff. With Cole on board, an already hilarious ensemble could now be the funniest on television, regardless of your real-life partisan leanings.

"Veep" Season 2 will premiere on a TBD date in 2013 on HBO.
