'Today' co-host said to be 'miserable' over Ann Curry fan tirades

According to TMZ, "Today" show co-host Matt Lauer is "freaked out" and "miserable" over tirades screamed at him by New Yorkers on a daily basis.

Lauer went from good guy to bad overnight in June, after TMZ reported he had maneuvered to oust Ann Curry as his co-host as part of his last contract negotiation. (NBC execs have publicly denied any connection between Lauer and what they term Curry's "reassignment" to reporter for "NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams" and other NBC news programs. Curry was replaced by Savannah Guthrie on the "Today" show.)

The TMZ report quotes unnamed NBC sources saying the public harassment is "driving (Lauer) crazy, he's so unhappy." The report adds:  “Matt is telling people at NBC there have also been lots of sarcastic comments about his $25 million salary."

He should be fired and Ann brought back to replace his sorry ****. Bet ratings would rise sharply..

Not a Guthrie fan at all..Ann is sweet and was clearly not comfortable being beside Matt..It's hard to do your job correctly when you know how the person sitting beside you feels about you..What?   She became not popular because she didn't act stupid or make enough jokes..No she is not Meredith or Katie..just Ann..I haven't watched the Today Show since and watched for years..NBC acts like it doesn't want loyal viewers..even with the evening shows, when you get hooked, they just up and cancel..they have done that many times to me..they don't even give shows a chance..don't even tune in to any new shows anymore..every show that holds my interest I know they'll cancel..not loyal to NBC anymore..

Karma.  Ann was great at what she did.  I won't watch the Today Show anymore and I was ready to have it on every morning now that I am retired.  Now I have banned it.  Matt should have been the one to leave and 25 million?  Really?  No one is worth that much.

Some of the hatred has to do with the fact that he had an affair with his cohost some years ago. Then he had Curry ousted so he could get his ex-mistress the spot.

There's the old saying that goes, "what you sow, you shall reap"-yes, Karma indeed for Mr. Lauer.  I don't watch the show anymore-can't stand Savannah Guthrie.

this is definitely Karma....Matt acted like a little child holding his breath and not wanting to play with Ann Curry.,...so he negotiated his contract and had her removed....well in my opinion Ann made the show...I have no use for Matt Lauer.....I have Ann on my Fb page and she is definitely a woman with Balls...I enjoy someone not afraid to say what is on her mind...ANN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....MATT GO POUT IN THE CORNER

Karma...I try not to watch the Today Show anymore.  I usually will watch CBS or ABC.  I like a more mature news person.  I want to hear the news not the "fluff stuff".  I personally liked Ann's style and how she interviewed and reported news.  Suck it up Matt...u r a big boy.  Just how much money does one need to be happy and have a good life?  25 million salary?  seriously?  And he is miserable?

Love Ann Curry, Love Matt, Love Savannah.  Everyone on the Today show has contributed in different ways.  Times are changing, news reporting is changing.  People are meant to be in different positions for different reasons at different times.  No one is malicious here.  All things are done for good reasons.

Ann was melodramatic - overly serious.  i disliked her interviewing style, she had no sense of humor and is better suited to the evening news.  I always felt that she was a bad fit for a morning show because her gravitas came off as not genuine and off putting.   It surprises me that people reacted that way when she was reassigned.  Seemed to me to be a no brainer.

Ann Curry is wonderful in her own right. However, as a fan of Ann and a fan of the Today Show, she just didn't fit on the anchor couch. her interviews were stiff and awkward and she did not have good chemistry with her co-hosts.

Ann is great in many things that she does. But this isn't Matt's or anyone else's fault. She just did not work well on the Today Show couch.

Ann is one of the nicest people on the planet. I was shocked to see he go. The hell with Matt.

Ann Curry was just not a good Today Host. She is a good reporter. She worked with Matt for a long time before, so why do people really thing he got her reassigned? Lack of fan base is what did it. Why is it OK to harass anyone about their job when they are just out in public?

Since Ann is missing from the morning show, I now watch CBS.  She is my all time favorite and miss her. If Matt is responsible for her leaving, he will just have to take it and perhaps there is some way he can undo the harm done.  Whenever my husband and I see Ann reporting, our first comment "there's Ann"! Shame on NBC for the way she was let go on her last day.

MY WIFE AND I DO NOT WATCH TODAY ANY MORE OVER THIS. MATT SHOULD BE THE ONE GONE. ANN CURRY WAS GREAT, I CAN NOT STAND SAVANNAH GUTHRIE AT ALL. I LOVE NATALIE SHE IS GREAT. IF A REPLACEMENT WAS NEED IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HER. GOOD MORNING IS OUR FAVORITE TO WATCH NOW. JOHN  ALPINE CA.

I don't watch the Today show because I am at work. But the few times I did catch it , I did not care for Matt Lauer's attitude. He is a rude, pompous, biased jerk. I love it when he gets told off by guest...On the other hand, Ann Curry appeared to be nice, but a little on the nervous side.
