'Luther' finds a lover
BBC drama casts Idris Elba's latest lady friend

Last month, our own Mekeisha Madden Toby reassured "Luther" fans that BBC America's award-winning cop drama was back in production on Season 3 (or, if you prefer British vernacular, Series 3). Now, the network has confirmed that Idris Elba's titular homicide detective will have a new romantic counterpart.
"Resident Evil" familiar face Sienna Guillory has joined the cast as Mary Day, a vintage-story employee who crosses paths with DCI Luther and, presumably, enters into a courtship with the troubled widower. Not much else is known about their relationship, but if the show's history is any indication, she'll likely become endangered and used as leverage by one of her boyfriend's serial-killing foes.
As Guillory hints herself, "There is no other set I'd rather be on, and I love the disastrous fun of being Mary Day, the right girl in the wrong place."
No word yet on exactly when Season 3 will premiere stateside. Nor has there been any further information regarding Ruth Wilson's potential return as Luther's devil/angel-incarnate, Alice. We can tell you there will be four hour-long episodes, and that its previous 10 are available via Netflix streaming, so there's ample time and opportunity to catch up. You should. It's terrific.
"Luther" Season 3 premieres in 2013 on BBC America.
