Dave on Jay: Most insecure person I've ever known

Letterman breaks down his long-running rivalry with 'Tonight Show' host

It's not clear if David Letterman is the Hatfield or the McCoy in his longtime rivalry with Jay Leno. The only thing that is clear is that the contention between the two late-night titans is far from over.

 

In an upcoming interview with none other than Oprah Winfrey -- the woman who tried to broker Super-Bowl inspired peace between the two in 2010 -- Letterman breaks down his issues with Leno. He also said the problems didn't start when Leno was named the host of the "Tonight Show" instead of him. Look for the interview on "Oprah's Next Chapter" in January.

"We were always friends before all of this happened," Letterman told Winfrey. "He has a way … he's an unusual fellow. I've never met anyone quite like Jay. And I will say, and I'm happy to say, that I think he is the funniest guy I've ever known. Just flat out, if you go to see him do his nightclub act, just the funniest, the smartest, a wonderful observationist and very appealing as a comic."

 

But, and here's the rub, Letterman said, "The fact that he is also maybe the most insecure person I have ever known … I could never reconcile that."

Humph. So Letterman and Leno won't be hugging it out in 2013? Got it.

David Letterman needs to get a life and worry about himself and stop talking about Jay Leno, he is jealous of Jay Leno that is why he keep talking about him.

Jay Leno would screw his mother if he thought she took his so called tonight show.

He stabbed Connan in the back so why not anyone else that gets in his way.

I have liked some of his shows but for the most part its boring.

I think Dave has better guests by far..

Letterman calls Leno insecure????? Letterman makes a joke out of sleeping with his employees.

He comes across as being a bitter **** who is never happy about anything. Oprah would interview a pile of sh*t to get ratings. Wait a minute, she just did that with Letterman.

I used to watch Dave once in a while. He is not clever. His top 10 is so sad, I guess that what makes some people think its funny. Dave come on, get some better writers. Come up with something new. Better still, move out of the way old man, so some one better and younger can entertain us late at night. Do us all a favor and retire. You have negative energy in yopur old age. Oh by the way, you never competed with Jay. You have no class, at least he has some. He is also much more humerous to those with an IQ of over 50.

I dont find Dave funny. He acts like a 12 year old and gets paid millions.  He can also be nasty like he is politically.  I think he has the brain of a 12 yr old.

Oprah interviews Letterman?? Now there is a program I won't be watching.  Dave is still bitter but one thing he said is true... Leno is very funny plus he treats his guests well. Remember  when Cher   called Dave an assh****???  Big laugh from everyone & no one disagreed. Lenos rating are higher & that annoys Dave to no end.  The way Dave puts down his guests & is rude shows he is the insecure one. I also won't watch TV award shows where every late night show host is nominated but Jay. The nominations are all political. Jay is a liberal but  he treats guests from both side equally & Hollyweird doesn't like him for   that!!

Letterman has never been funny.  He doesn't wear well.  At least Leno is a good host. He lets his guests talk....with Letterman, it's all about him and unfortunately that doesn't make for good entertainment.

Sounds like he might be a little jealous of Leno to me

and why would Oprah need to stir this pot again...

I used to think that Letterman was edgy and funny 15 years ago, but now he is just mean-spirited and bitter, and seems to think that he is the spokesperson for the democrats.

When SO CALLED star  RIP down other entertainers',  nothing turns me off them more. Here you are with all your riches and fame and you still feel the need to tear down someone else in an attempt to make your self look better and all you do is come out looking like a loser. Oh wait that does make you a loser.

I can not stand Letterman. He's turned into nothing more than a bitter, liberal hack.  Leno isn't the funniest either, but at least he isn't such a bitter person and doesn't use his show to use it as a political platform.

I have always liked Letterman far more then Jay Leno, only thing I like about Leno is his CAR collection period. Jay Leno is very insecure and did cut Letterman throat in getting that spot he has, Johnny  Carson wanted Letterman to take his place on the tonight show but again Leno begged pleaded and stole that spot and for that act alone I have never liked him at all.

Letterman is a much better Host in every-way, I love the top ten count down
