'Grey's Anatomy' Scores 'Friday Night Lights' Star

Gaius 'Smash' Charles joins undying medical drama's roster

Just over a week ago, we reported on NBC's fledgling musical drama "Smash" making significant tweaks to their cast. And now, it looks as if ageless ABC hospital soap "Grey's Anatomy" is still hoping to squash competition in its upcoming ninth season by casting Gaius Charles, aka Brian "Smash" Williams of "Friday Night Lights" fame.

TV Line got the exclusive scoop, although there are no further details available about Charles' character. And as TV Line correctly observes, Gaius represents the fourth "FNL" alum to feature a "Grey's" stint on his resume (along with Kyle Chandler, Zach Gilford and Jesse Plemons), although the other three dropped in for fleeting turns just prior to "Friday Night Lights" kicking off. 
 
 
Charles, who's been busy on the big and small screens the past few years, will likely have a more substantial, recurring part, which would indeed be quite the score for Seattle Grace.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 9 premieres in September on ABC.

Grey's killed off Lexie, so at this point I don't much care who they cast -- I'm done.
