Laura Prepon Preps for Netflix Series
Former 'That '70s Show' star joins 'Weeds' creator's latest dramedy
By Kenny Herzog Sep 18, 2012 8:53AM
You see, the reason "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan called her new show "Orange Is the New Black" is because it's about a stylish Brooklyn lady who winds up donning jumpsuits in a federal prison.
Specifically, the upcoming hour-long comedic drama -- which will be broadcast via Netflix -- focuses on a young woman named Piper Kerman (Taylor Schilling) who's relationship with a drug-runner lands her in the slammer.
And as Deadline reports, said narcotics liaison will be played by Laura Prepon, aka Donna from "That '70s Show" and recent lead in the regrettable "Are You There Chelsea?"
While this is obviously familiar territory for Kohan, it's not exactly a thematic leap for Prepon, who's Donna on "T7S" was a habitual basement pot-smoker. OK, so it's a tiny leap.
We'll be sure to keep you updated as more casting details and/or future air dates are revealed.
