'Game of Thrones' '/' HBO

Brace yourselves, "Game of Thrones" fans, for there will be blood in Season 3.

Production for the new season of HBO's hit fantasy drama is underway in Ireland, and producers are getting ready to shoot the much lauded Red Wedding. To flesh out the scene -- a fan favorite -- casting directors sent out a call for extras who are male cellists and men with amputated legs, reports Westeros.org, a "Game of Thrones" enthusiasts' site.

Interested cellists should be experienced and have "medieval or period faces (i.e., long hair and beard)" and amputees "must be comfortable with filming a scene within the context of a battle where your leg has been injured."

The ad also noted that "prosthetic makeup will be applied as though your leg has newly been severed."

Don't you just love the realism "Game of Thrones" producers seek? But hey, the Red Wedding is no laughing matter. And as fans of George R.R. Martin's book series know, thousands are massacred.

Season 3 of "Game of Thrones" kicks off Sunday, March 31, on HBO.

Honestly, this isn't a spoiler if you've read the books. If you haven't, you shouldn't be surprised when they mention "fan favorite" scenes, because they are expected. I was angry at the changes they made in season 2 (taking Dany's dragons? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) so if they don't do justice to critical scenes such as the wedding then they will lose a lot of respect from the readers.

Because then you know that there is a massacre at a wedding, which will ruin any surprise of this happening once the wedding is mentioned.

@Concerned reader 3444

If you're just going to label it as RW and readers would know what he's talking about then why change it from Red Wedding? Either way theyre going to know whats being talked about....

Even mentioning the name "red wedding" is a bit spoiler sensitive, especially mentioning the casting call for amputees.  I'd take out the red wedding mention if I were you, or maybe label it as RW.  Readers would know what you're talking about.
