Time to get behind a black 'Bachelorette'
Four reasons why one Kentucky woman's buzzed-about campaign is worth supporting

The gossip mill has been suggesting that recent "Bachelorette" Emily Maynard is suffering from a case of the mopey-pants after not being cast on "Dancing with the Stars." If those sour grapes are genuine and warranted, then what should Kentucky model/dentist Misee Harris say? Like every black woman who's aspired to star in ABC's reality-dating juggernaut and "Bachelor" counterpart, Harris has yet to realize her goal. As has been thoroughly critiqued over the years, both franchises have skewed dominantly white, a formula that has blanched not only the diversity of their casts but the freshness and relevancy of their content. Which brings us back to Harris, who's waged a fierce social-media campaign to be the first-ever black "Bachelorette" that's been noticed by Huffington Post and Jezebel of late and seems to be picking up steam. And while I don't generally advocate putting too much civic energy into reality TV, here are five reasons why you should visit Harris' Twitter and/or Facebook outposts and help her commandeer control of that precious rose.
- She quotes 2 Chainz for inspiration.
- She's a knockout.
- It's less tiring to see more white faces on "The Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" than it is to keep looking at cosmetically enhanced white faces (and other assets). We have the "Housewives" for that.
- Who would you rather have as your next "Bachelorette"? New York?
In short, I endorse Ms. Harris as America's next "Bachelorette" for either the 2013 or 2014 seasons. Good day.
Plus: 'All-Star Celebrity Apprentice' | 'Dancing With the Stars' cast | Shows that are signing off this year
"The Bachelor" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. The next "Bachelorette" will be announced live on the March 11 "Bachelor" finale.

The real question has nothing to do about race and whether you feel if the "black" agenda is being jammed down your throats.(which by the way when reading the article and thats the first thought in your head its pretty clear you are a racist and might want to get your intelligence checked) The real question is why the hell does ABC keep jamming these stupid reality tv shows down our throats full of people of all colors, gender and religion. Don't be offended because you don't want to see a non white bachelorette, be offended that ABC thinks you want to see any more Bachelor/ Bachelorette rejects

With the 15 million illegals, add the anchor baby legals, and there is more mexicans now than blacks. You wouldn't know it by all the shows/commercials on tv now. Maybe they should boycott, and raise a stink that they're not also on every other commercial or game show. It's a legit point.
When's the last time a non black sang the national anthem at a super bowl, or NBA championship game? Why are they allowed to butcher our nations song?

"I thought it was on ABC not Fox? Just a thought......"
Nice...... Did you forget that the very first show to feature an African-American President, which has also been credited with getting Americans use to the idea and helping pave the way for Barack Obama, was on Fox? Or what about that little show that features two African-American judges and countless of African-American contestants - American Idol? Oh, and there's that show that every other network turned down - "In Living Color"? And those are just the ones I came up with off the top of my head.
You want to bash Fox. Fine. Want to look like an idiot? Don't do your research.

As a white man married to a black woman, I know it is time for a bachelorette that is other than white. If you look around, you will see that ther are more and more young, inter-racial couples both in your neighborhoods and on other TV shows. Why not the Bachelorette? I just wonder how the "meet the family" episodes would go if the parents and family are not as open-minded about inter-racial relationships.

Martin Luther King said let a person be judged by the fiber of his soul not by the color of his skin
my question is this why do we have a black miss america why do we have a black t v channel as well
as other black only programs and people want to call white people racists I have never owned a slave
I have treatedblack folks as equal so lets not have black or white anyting

while I agree there should be all races "equally", I believe they should screen and choose the BEST possible "candidate" regardless of skin/nationality etc, we have the miss USA/World etc for ALL combined.... the link to the pic with her and another "model", in all honesty and opinion, that was Not a good pic at all, it made her look snarky (IMHO) hmmmm....

Yes, why haven't they had a black bachelor or bachelorette, what are Fox producers "racist"! Well we do know they are "racist" towards the Democratic party, so the answer to my own question would be um "yes"! America is on to you Fox, get with the liberal programming, "America" is the new melting pot! Were in the 2000's it's not 1950!!!
