Ann Curry to CNN?

Reports: Former 'Today' co-anchor asking to be released from contract

Nearly a year after being unceremoniously demoted from "Today" show co-anchor to seldom-seen TV news reporter, Ann Curry is reportedly en route to a prominent anchor post at CNN. Radar Online is reporting that Curry has formally requested to be released from her NBC contract so that Jeff Zucker -- her former "Today" boss and the new CNN chief -- can hire her for the 8 p.m. slot currently occupied by Anderson Cooper. This development was first leaked by the New York Post on Dec. 12.

According to Radar Online, NBC execs are currently unwilling to release Curry. And if she were to up and quit, Curry would be bound by a two-year non-compete clause. However, the story notes, Curry's attorney believes that NBC breached its contract when it demoted her.

If the report is accurate, one of the happiest people could then be Matt Lauer. As we reported last week, Curry's former "Today" co-host has been suffering abuse from New Yorkers for his reported role in downing her star.

Would you watch CNN with Ann Curry anchoring the 8 p.m. slot? And would this development take Lauer off the hook?

"Today" airs weekdays at 7 a.m. ET/PT on NBC.

I say it's time for Lauer to go, he is a big jerk

Here's hoping that GMA continues to trounce them.  And wait until Robin Roberts comes back.

Glad that Ann Curry is finally getting a position she deserves.  I almost stopped watching the Today Show completely when she left.  I don't know all the inside though, and probably nobody ever will about her departure, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the way things were done.  I like Savanah, but she is no Ann Curry.  Seems like Today just can't get their gender balance straight after losing Katie Couric.  I appreciate Ann's style, and if I watch CNN I will watch her.

Since NBC treated Curry so badly, then they should let her out of the contract. CNN is very wise to hire Curry. I have always liked her. I have watched the Today Show for the last 50 years, until Curry was dismissed. Now I watch CNN.

Like Ann Curry but do not want to lose Anderson Cooper in the 8 p.m. slot

I would watch Ann.  No one, NO ONE can deliver a message the way that she does.   Would it let Lauer off of the hook?!?!  I'd say umm "NO!".  NBC, don't create any more bad karma for yourselves.  If the lady wants out, do the right thing - that is if you are capable.

Yes, I would absolutly watch Ann Curry. If NBC is so inclined not to let her out of her contract why did they release her from the Today Show.?  Granted Matt Lauer was the instigator but just who is the boss..Lauer or NBC?  NBC should downsize the prima donna Lauer.  What exactly does he do anyway?  I keep my fingers crossed for Ann Curry.

NBC will lose alot more viewers if they do not let Ann Curry out of her contract.  I, myself, stopped watching Today Show when Curry left.

Savana is horrible, she may be younger than Ann, but she has no class.

NBC, let Ann go to where she will be appreciated...FYI, I am one of those hundreds of thousands that has been boycotting the Today Show since you "demoted" her as Matt Lauer's scapegoat. I will definitely watch Ann on CNN. Ann is a journalist not a fluff machine.

I most certainly will watch Ann Curry where ever she goes!  I most definately will never watch Today as long as old dried up diva matt laurer is on- hope he continues to get grief for his part in Ann's leaving.  NBC would be very smart to let Ann out of her contract...unless they plan on replacing old laurer with her!

Yes I would absolutely watch Ann Curry on CNN.  Ever since NBC treated her so disrespectfully I have refused to watch the Today show or support it's cast in any form or fashion.  Ms. Curry was  never afforded a fair opportunity to settle into the new role and I blame that fact on Matt Lauer who I especially will not support.  This whole matter smells of racism in the worse way.  Now to hear that NBC might not let her pursue other opportunities where her skills and talents will be appreciated adds insult to injury.   I hope she comes out on top - in this mess.  If you ever read this Ms. Curry I have followed you on the Today show for years and always thought you were great.  Count me in when you get over to CNN.

G-Nice!

It would be GREAT to see Ann again. I have not watched the NBC morning show since she left. Hopefully the morons at NBC will finally make the right decision to let Ann go.

Yes, I would watch Ann at CNN in a heart beat!  NBC is still around?  The day Ann was let go, I dropped NBC from my world!

By way of protest, I have not watched the Today Show since Ann was removed from the anchor spot thereby ending twenty-five years as a viewer.  Management blew it then and should release her now.

NBC humiliated Ann.  I've never liked Matt.  Go for it Ann and get the heck out of there!  I hope NBC reads all the feedback and backs down.

I sure would watch Ann, she is the best. I watch the Today bur not Matt. Every one knows about
him. Does he really think things will ever be better for him, I think not. I am a firm believer that the Bad comes back to you the same as the good. NBC needs to release Ann after what was done and she should receive all benefits that were offered to her. Good Luck Ann Love You

I don't watch the Today Show anymore because of Matt Lauer.  Ann Curry was always my favorite and she is missed.  I will watch her wherever she ends up.
