Latest Ellen DeGeneres ad causes another stir

One Million Moms registers disapproval over JC Penney Xmas commercial

This week's lesson in unexpected cultural protests: If nationally franchised department stores cast anyone but stridently heterosexual celebrity spokespeople, they'll apparently be in serious trouble with some conservative groups. Or at least that's what JC Penney's putting up with yet again, on account of its ongoing relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.
 

 

Shortly after Thanksgiving, the company debuted its latest holiday commercial starring the comedian and talk-show host. And if the harmless 30-second spot could be accused of any transgression, it'd be corny punchlines at the expense of helpless elves. But according to a recent website update (since seemingly removed) from One Million Moms (a group affiliated with conservative media watchdog American Family Association), "JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again," before decreeing, "Christians must now vote with their wallets."


 

There may be a a couple slight problems with this call to arms. Enacting the democratic privilege of petitioning corporations whose actions don't square with your values doesn't come down to a "vote." It's not a popular election. Moreover, if millions of stocking-stuffing matriarchs just say no to JCP, where will they purchase Cosby sweaters for the men in their lives? Worth considering, One Million Moms. Worth considering.

As for Ellen, she's unlikely to respond, given her eloquently eviscerating comments in the wake of OMM's prior upheaval back in February. But in case you, or they, missed it, this about sums the controversy up.

Hey Ellen: tell them greedy buggers!  To lick you right where god split you... Ha, Ha  or Ho, Ho! I think  its amazing what you do! to help people at the most posberis time of the year. Iam a Canadian girl! I finally saw the ad, and noticed NOTHING offensive about it, corny yes. I do not agree with same-sex marriage, but I do like Ellen. She is funny, does a lot of good, and is kind, I enjoy her show when I get a chance to watch it. I just don't see what the big deal is here. I find it MORE offensive that this article uses the X for Xmas. I either use t-mas. or C-mas, so it doesn't totally leave Jesus (as in Jesus is the Reason for the Season) out of His own holiday celebration. Get a life people.

I have spent some time researching this million-mom crap. Of course we all know that there are not actually 1 million members. Furthermore, they are all NOT MOTHERS, meaning they do NOT have children. OH MY !  Would you believe they are not all FEMALE either ??? LOL, I guess they had to recruit THEIR HUSBANDS as well, just so they can leave "COMMENTS" and not put their OWN POST on here. I really wonder if these "wives" know what their husbands are doing on the internet ? One member in particular quotes verses from the Bible, then turns around and calls people outrageously obscene names. Sorry, but that is what I call a "Bible-thumper". This MAN is obnoxious ! I am not a hater, but I despise people that stand behind God one minute and turn right around and slam others for their opinions !

End of story ! JC Penny and Ellen won. HA HA

I don't hate the stupid **** I don't hate anyone for that matter but I am sick of this constant push by sick evil twisted telling me what they believe should be the norm for others. It is not for me to judge her sin, since I have so many of my own.  My issue is with condemnation and sitting in judgement of this person or that person since her "sin" is out there for all to see.  Yours are hidden, and if you were to put them on the table, you would be shamed in the eyes of your God.  Her goodness, her humanity, and the Love that she is outweighs any "christian" doctrine.  Judge not that ye may not be judged.  You do not have to play God on earth...isn't He bigger than you are?  Let Him handle it.  You mind your own business.  Take care of your own damn soul.

OMM  ended their protest yesterday.  The 3 dozen Moms (and their husband/masters) saw that this boycott was even less likely to succeed than any of the others they've launched.  It's remarkable to see how many people posting here are saying POSITIVE things about Ellen--even those who reserve approving of gay people.

What is wrong with you people?  It never ceases to amaze me how some people are hell bent on trying to push their beliefs on others when it has not affect or consequences in their own lives.  Ellen is in a good relationship, who cares if it's with a women.  Does that affect you?  How many heterosexual women put up with abusive husbands in the name of "religion"

So WHO are you to judge??? I'm sorry I don't remember you saying you

were exempt from God's way. She has certainly done more for mankind then

this out there group....hhmmm I wonder what they can say about that in defense.

On Judgment Day when asked about this, I will love to hear the answer as to

how they were not judging....LOVE YOU TOO....from ONE MOM to a group of MOMS.

OH  and by the way that stoning thing....was in the old test and we live by the new.

When JCP chose to promote homosexual couples in their ads, I too decided to boycott them.  The use of Ellen Degeneres as a spokes person does not offend me.  She is an entertainer and as long as she is not flaunting her sexuality as a homosexual I do not feel that she should be boycotted.  It is the actual inclusion of gay couples shown as "normal"  that is offensive.  By boycotting Ellen just because she is gay, people are condeming her and not the homosexual act itself.  Gay people are not bad, most of them are wonderful, loving human beings.  Let us not confuse the act with the person.

Well its funny how people say that this is america and we have the right to free speech and opinions and when someone even a group like the million mom want to express that people cry like fools well if it was something that bothered you , you would be in favor of that ,,,,,, well i say Thank God for free speech and free protest sooooo keep on talking and keep on protesting Americans ,,, the day will come when we will no longer be able to speak our opinions or protest the opinions of others ,,, there will never be any satisfiying everyone

 Well one thing we will understand is that Ellen is still a Degenerate. It seems to me that JC Penney should wake up and end there relationship with Degenerate. Personally did away with my JCP account and never again will enter a JCP store until they do away with Degenerate. Enough said.

Everyone in America is allowed to have an opinion and it is respected.  Unless that opinion is pro male, white, heterosexual and Christian.  Then the opinion is racist or bigoted or without merit.  The media is a propoganda machine telling you how to think.  Someone explain why an individual cannot express an opinion against gays without being attacked?

Have to say I am always amused by the 'One Million Moms',....especially​ since their membership is roughly around 40,000,....and soooo clueless. True Christians truly walk the walk, not just talk the talk, like OMM; true Christians are not judgmental and harsh, when practicing the Lord's word and work. With that said,....Gary, straight, does it really matter, when it comes to Ellen Degeneres, her values, her charity kindnesses, and the wonderful way she practices her values.. OMM could certainly learn a thing or two from her,.....btw, before you become sooo accusatory,....who wrote the script,.....Ellen Degeneres on her worst day, would never deliberately be malicious, unkind, and cruel to another human being,......and we won't even go enter her love of animals. The rants you spew out, the more I am beginning to wonder, does this come down to basic jealousy on your part? Ellen does good work,...you could learn from her,...and the more you rant,...the more shallow you look. True Christians are fine, loving, non hateful people; we are supposed to embrace our differences, and look out for each other. By the way,....you bigots will never speak for me.
