Labor Day Daytime TV Preemptions and Marathons
Golf and tennis replace soap operas and talk shows
Labor Day brings preemptions, marathons, the PGA Golf Playoff and the U.S. Tennis Open to daytime TV. Here's a look at what's airing during the day on Monday, Sept. 3.
Bing: More about PGA Golf Tour Playoff | U.S. Tennis Open
The morning news war continues, with "Today" boasting a performance from Matchbox Twenty and Kelly Ripa hosting "Live! With Kelly" on her own before Tuesday's big co-host reveal. "CBS This Morning," "Good Morning America" and "Good Afternoon America" will also be new, but with talk show premiere season about to launch, any talk shows airing Monday will be repeats.
There will be no fresh action on the ABC, CBS and NBC soap operas. "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Days Of Our Lives" and "The Young and the Restless" are preempted, while "General Hospital" airs an encore of the July 23 episode.
The PGA Golf Tour Playoff: Deutsche Bank Championship takes over NBC Daytime, while the U.S. Tennis Open: Early round play takes over CBS Daytime. (On Friday, Sept. 7, the U.S. Tennis Open returns to CBS, which means more preemptions for "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless" fans.) Check local listings for times.
The schedule goes back to normal Tuesday, when Steve Harvey launches his new talk show and "The View" returns for season 16.
