FX Stars' Party Styles As Different As Their Shows

Charlie Sheen, Louis C.K. and Elijah Wood show their stuff at network's nightclub event

Charlie Sheen, Louis C.K. and Elijah Wood could not be more different. Nothing punctuated this fact more than FX's Thursday Comedy Block party Tuesday night at Hollywood's Lure nightclub.

Bing: More on FX's Thursday comedy block | More on Charlie Sheen's 'Anger Management'

There was scrumptious food, an open bar and Top 40 music spun by a talented DJ but none of this compared to the basic-cable network's three stars in attendance. Russell Brand was the only one who didn't bother to show because he was busy editing his series, "Brand X With Russell Brand," a spokesman said.

Brand's show, along with Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management," "Wilfred" and "Louie" will all share FX's Thursday-night slate in hopes of attracting eager summer audiences desperate for laughs.

But back to the party or should we say three parties? Because that's what it felt like. For instance, Sheen celebrated by waltzing from one end of the club to the other surrounded by phalanx of bodyguards. Trailing just behind them was a herd of scantily clad women. Were these Sheen's Goddesses or just party groupies? Who knows? They looked like friends of Kelly Bundy.

At one point during his tour, Sheen stopped by a bar, ordered a double shot of booze -- some said Tequila -- downed it and tipped the pretty lady bartender $100. The tip in turn made the barkeep dance with delight and shake her breasts.

Seriously, you had to see it to believe it and as viewers will find out Thursday, this was way racier and more fascinating than anything on "Anger Management."

Ramon Sheen, Charlie's lesser-known older brother, also attended the party but the two were never seen together. Weird.

Then there was Louis C.K., 44, who donned giant, Larry David style black framed eyeglasses and couldn't have looked more uncomfortable with all those people around him if he tried. But, you have to give the cynical comedian credit for making an effort to be more personable.

Last but not least was Wood, 31, who never left the club's open-air smoking room. Dressed in a button-down plaid shirt his character Ryan would wear on "Wilfred," Wood puffed away while resting his hand on the strap of his trusty messenger bag. If you didn't know who this guy was, he could've easily been mistaken for a network intern.

But like Louis C.K., Wood made himself available to fans who shook his hand and engaged him in casual conversations.

And there you have it. Another industry party that was anything but boring and rational. Don't you just love Hollywood?

"Anger Management" premieres Thursday, June 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX. "Wilfred" returns for a second season Thursday, June 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. "Louie" returns for a third season Thursday, June 28, at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on FX. And "Brand X With Russell Brand" premieres Thursday, June 28, at 11 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
